We’ve all had those embarrassing moments when we miss the joke completely. The thing is, for most people, this has happened to them at least once or twice. Say you’re with a small group of friends from school and someone says a joke. You just so happen to miss it while everyone else bursts out laughing. Well, now that we live in the digital age and have the gift of the internet, life is more-or-less all online. This means that embarrassing moments can become immortalized with just a click of a button. That’s exactly what happened to these individuals, unfortunately for them. They missed a joke and their comments became even funnier than the actual jokes.
No Spider-Sense
Dealing with a loose spider in the apartment is many people’s worst nightmare. However, everyone knows that once you capture them under something like a glass, they’re relatively easy to handle.
Clearly, that’s the logic behind this hilarious observation about covering Spider-Man with a glass. Unfortunately for this person, they argued it wouldn’t work thanks to Spider-Man’s superpowers. They must be lacking in spider senses if you ask us.
Vegan AirPods
The internet is full of people who’s main purpose in life is to correct other people’s grammar. They absolutely love doing it and take the matter very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that at times they end up embarrassing themselves. Just like this person did.
Ever heard of a pun? There’s no need to “correct” the original poster for their spelling – they knew exactly what they were doing when they wrote up the joke. Not to mention, they were probably aware that they were holding a leek, so don’t worry about that either.
People Won’t Get It
This Sodium/Na joke is way too good. It has two uses – aside from making your friends laugh, it reveals who wasn’t paying attention in Chemistry class as well. It’s a double-edged joke if you will. We can’t get enough of these jokes.
By what this person wrote, the commenter who asked for a joke must be someone who sees the good in humanity. However, they don’t seem to have seen a periodic table all that much. The original poster saw this opportunity and took it, saying “WOOSH” in the reply.
Self-Woosh
We all have that one friend who hates looking things up online themselves and always just asks you instead. It’s not like they don’t know how to do it, they simply don’t want to. And so, they ask you the most random questions despite the fact that typing them into Google would take them less time.
This person seems to have more than one friend who’s like that. When they got asked this question, they completely missed the fact that their friend immediately sent the punch line after that. At least they noticed the fact that they missed the joke.
IKEA Cake
Who doesn’t love Ikea? It’s so enticing with its innovative designs and affordable prices. We personally can’t get enough of them. Even when you’re on the brink of madness while trying to assemble your new wardrobe, it still manages to be satisfying when you finally get it together.
Well, the original poster was clearly referencing the fact that the company’s signature self-assembly system was so famous. However, this commenter apparently never went to Ikea. Should we explain the joke to them in the form of a wordless manual?
Burnt Toast
It’s no secret that spelling is not an easy thing. It’s no wonder that there are entire competitions based on testing people’s spelling skills. Naturally, the original poster understands that and wanted to make fun of that fact. Well, their friend doesn’t seem to have the same sense of humor as they do.
Their friend just had to correct their spelling of the word ‘congratulations’. They completely misunderstood the punch line. The entire joke, really. We’re actually happy they did because the reply they got was even funnier than the original joke.
Respect The Law
There’s a famous term called ‘Captain Obvious’ – you’ve probably heard of it. It represents someone who’s rather slow on the uptake and can spend time online explaining blatantly obvious things to others. This is despite the fact that no one asked them for an explanation.
Well, our parents seem to have raised us right, so we’re just going to say “thank you, Captain Obvious” politely. That’s for noting that the sign in the photo means slippery roads ahead and not drive in zig-zags. We don’t know what we’d do without you!
Quiet Cat
In defense of that commenter who took the post seriously, there have been many cases where people ended up with the wrong kind of pet unknowingly. However, this is clearly not one of those times.
When the original poster wrote that perhaps their ‘cat’ speaks Spanish, that kind of gives away the fact that they’re joking and are not actually serious about their question. At least, we thought so. It might not be the case for everyone, we realize.
Too Smooth
New technology like social media and dating apps have completely changed the world of dating. In a way, it’s become so much easier. However, some people are a little hopeless when it comes to dating, just like this poor guy.
The lady flirting with him was so smooth that her joke completely went over his head. She was just too good at it! That’s when he went ahead and ruined it all in just one message. We can’t blame her for being frustrated, we’d be too.
Think Before You Speak
There’s a famous phrase that we all know from early on in life: “Think before you speak”. It’s a rather fundamental lesson we all need to know in life. Before you say anything, simply take a moment to think it through. You’ll avoid a lot of mishaps by doing so.
Well, there should be something taught online – ‘Think before you type’. We’re sure if this commenter waited just a moment longer before responding, they would have gotten the punch line. Now, they’re stuck with the knowledge that the whole internet saw their fail.
Different Outlook
At the end of the day, every single person in existence is different. That’s what makes us all so special, of course. Naturally, we all have different lifestyles as well. Just because one thing works for someone doesn’t mean it would work for you too. That goes for jokes as well – different people have different senses of humor.
The original poster came up with this witty joke about a treadmill bottle holder. We assume that most people immediately got the joke. However, as you can see, not everyone did. This person decided to reply before fully understanding the joke. Honestly, we kind of feel sorry for them.
Dark Humor
Some people just have a need to show off how knowledgable they are. They tend to do so in the most inconvenient moments, naturally. It’s like that one kid who raises their hand in the last minute of class to ask about the homework the teacher forgot to collect.
The original poster was speaking about a person who lives near Chernobyl who has nine fingers on one hand. Mr. Obvious over here just had to jump in and say what everyone already knew – that Chernobyl is not, in fact, a documentary. Groundbreaking.
Concrete Jungle
As we all know, Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” is inspired by the city of New York. They probably used this photo as inspiration as they wrote the lyrics. In all honesty, at first glance, this photo did fool us.
The original poster decided to come up with something of their own as an ode to New York, and this photo is the result. It’s a joke, clearly, yet there is still one person who feels the need to point out the obvious and ruin the joke for themselves.
You Can’t See Me
We can’t help but wonder just how many comments like this pop up on jokes – it must happen rather often, honestly. The person clearly sees that this post was a complete and total joke, and yet they still couldn’t help themselves and pointed out the obvious.
Proudly, this person types up their comment, word by word. They couldn’t keep it to themselves. They had to tell everyone what they already knew. Now, they can go to sleep at night with a clear conscience knowing they took part in making the world a better place.
I’ll Wait
This one is almost painful to read. This poor person has a friend who teased him with a joke about construction, only to tell them it wasn’t ready yet since they were still working on it… Get it? This person clearly didn’t get it.
Their reaction was short and confused, simply writing “k?”. They wanted to save all their full words for when their friend would finish telling them the joke. It’s been said that they’re still waiting for the rest of the joke to this day.
No Way
We’ve all seen this meme template that’s been floating around the internet for a while now. It always says something ridiculous by a person dressed as Spider-Man. Which is funnier, though? The claim behind him, or those who respond to the meme seriously?
A lot of memes tend to be made for fun when people are bored or have a funny thought. At times, however, the comment section is the absolute best part. To be clear, the sun has been around for 4.603 billion years – just a couple more than a few million.
Right Back At You
Aside from the fact that the comment is, technically, correct and that bacteria can’t see, even if they could, they wouldn’t be able to see your whole face. They would be seeing a giant eye instead if we’re being nitpicky.
Not to mention, there would need to be enough light for the person’s eye to be visible to the bacteria in the first place. And anyway, if the bacteria could, hypothetically, see through, would they be scared by the gigantic eye looking at them? Maybe they would be blinded by the light?
You Fool
We’ve all had those moments when our brains don’t seem to work quite right, and something so obvious just slips our mind. This person might just be someone who watches a movie without paying attention to the names of the characters and then wonders what they were afterward.
Maybe they got confused because all the other characters in the movie have real names aside from Donkey. It’s odd when you think about it. But then again, it’s a kid’s movie, so we can’t really judge the creators.
So Punny
Who hasn’t had a moment when they didn’t notice an obvious pun? Taylor completely missed the joke in this case. Puns can be difficult to notice at times, so we’ll give her that. Especially when someone sneaks it into a sentence perfectly.
We find that with time, puns slowly morph into what is known as ‘dad jokes’. We have a special appreciation for them. A fun one is, “I got hit by a soda today, thankfully it was a soft drink”. Amazing.
Highest IQ In The Room
Firstly, the highest recorded IQ in history is 228 – it’s held by Marilyn vos Savant. Secondly, we can all hear the sarcasm dripping from this text message. Thirdly, there are people who would complain about their parachute not opening since someone else is there to help.
In fact, one person had survived the fall by landing on an anthill filled with fire ants. She was bitten over 200 times and the combined shock kept her adrenaline going and her heart pounding until help arrived. We feel that we should clarify – don’t try this at home.
Perfect Fit
It might not be so significant, but the hole in the wall is extremely obvious. Especially since the rest of the wall is in perfect condition. Despite this fact, the wall seems to be rather weak if it caved in from a door handle.
Coincidentally, the hole just so happens to be placed right where the door handle would be when opened! Wow. You can probably guess how it happened in the first place. Maybe a temper tantrum is to blame?
The Ultimate Promotion
We all know how difficult it is to work in retail. You have to face customers all day who never seem to appreciate the fact that those kinds of jobs are a nightmare. The meme here is obviously extremely sarcastic.
We all know it would be a really funny way to get fired. We’d probably laugh too if we’re being honest. Some people don’t seem to know about sarcasm, though. Take note, retail workers: getting ‘promoted’ is the only way out!
Different Perspective
Everyone sees things so differently in life. People have such different outlooks on so many things. Some look at the McDonald’s sign as a french fry in the shape of an ‘M’. Others see Colonel Sanders’s tie as his ‘stickman body’.
Whether those lines are his tie or his half-hearted body, we call all agree that he looks happy all the same. Honestly, we’re just as happy seeing all the people who are convinced his tie is a hilariously mismatched body.
The Entire Cast
We’re certain that we’ve all watched at least one movie that stars animals or that the main characters happen to be animals. For the most part, these animals tend to be companions, like dogs or cats, who can be trained relatively easily. However, what about filming elephants? Or lions?
Nowadays, we know that we have yet to develop the technology needed to create such advanced movies. So, we still have to manually train each and every one of these animals to be in the movie. Right? Wait – maybe we can just use some CGI instead?
Paranoid Much?
Everyone knows about social media, no matter what generation they happen to be from. It’s suitable for just about everyone. This means that if you’re lucky – or unlucky in some cases – you might just run into your parents on the internet.
We all know that the first reply meant it as a joke. No one aside from this one person actually thought they were being serious. However, how would you know your parents’ anonymous usernames on Reddit? They could be anybody… So maybe paranoia is a good thing in this case?
Bilingual Deer
Yes, this is definitely a wild animal who had been domesticated and trained to be a house pet. And it’s bilingual! How amazing! Of course, it’s obvious that this adorable thing is, in fact, a dog and not a deer.
Anyone can tell that much, right? There’s no need to point it out. Pointing this out would be like saying “That’s a door” while pointing at a door right in front of you. Yes, we already know. Just laugh and move on.
Flawless Impression
There are variety shows that show two masked singers – one is the original while the second is a great imitator. They both sing a certain familiar song. Then, the judges try and guess which of them is the real singer and which isn’t.
However, in this video, we have a hunch that Sacha Baron Cohen isn’t trying to imitate himself… A person can’t possibly ‘sound like’ themselves, right? They just are themselves. There’s nothing in between.
Wireless Tech
The existence of Bluetooth has allowed us to have flawless data transmissions and so much more. It’s made things so much more convenient in our lives, that’s for sure. What if we took things one step further? Instead of transmitting data, Bluetooth would transmit physical things like water.
Maybe, the fluid would get vaporized on one side and then travels as waves before coming out on the other end as normal water! There you go – wireless matter transmission! Unfortunately, reaching this point might just take several hundred years…
Ancient Times
There are people who aren’t capable of accepting the humor in memes. We all know how it’s impossible to hover. Come on, who doesn’t? We also know Newton discovered the principles of gravity and didn’t actually invent it. Looking deeper into the meme, didn’t this person realize that light bulbs haven’t been invented yet at that point?
The biggest flaw here is that Newton changed the candles on his ceiling by hovering. That is until he ‘invented’ gravity. We can imagine that he was forced to do it once people began abusing their hovering privileges.
Remove The Mustache
We know how cartoon characters have unique looks and features that make them instantly recognizable. At times, it can be difficult to tell, however. Even so, we can get a rough idea of how the character looks.
All the same, we’re confident that the cartoonist who decided to ‘re-design’ this character knew what was what beforehand. However, we have a question left: how is this person so good at designing yet doesn’t realize that wasn’t a mustache?
Typo
If you’ve ever been a fan of memes, you must have wanted your creation to go viral at some point. It’s practically impossible to guarantee that you’ll be the next meme mastermind, but you can still try and become a basic meme creator on social media. It can’t be that hard, right?
Maybe you made memes with the potential to take off. Sadly, it just takes one mistake, just one little spelling mistake. That’s what will tip the scales and cause your incredible meme to fail. It will crash and burn after this.
Everyone Loves Free Shipping
It’s no mystery that consumers want nothing more than free shipping. They’d rather pay more for the products they’re buying rather than pay for shipping in addition. However, there’s an Anthony Hero in every crowd.
This guy was able to figure out the trick behind the whole thing. They were actually paying the same amount! Wow. All the same, Spongebob doesn’t like paying twice and refuses to pay an extra $2.39 for shipping. He’d rather buy the product for $15.
Put It In Reverse
This user found a great video to watch. It’s not every day that you can watch someone put back sand so perfectly. With all the chaos going on all over the world now, it’s nice to feel a little soothed every now and again.
Still, there’s always that one person who wants to watch the world burn. Don’t worry, buddy. We’re sure that in a parallel world, someone is really putting the sand back just like this. We can only hope that there isn’t someone just like you there as well.
Area 51 Secrets
If you’re someone who believes in Area 51, and you’ve followed the entire ordeal about it, then you wouldn’t be surprised if someone would say they had gone inside. Additionally, you’d accept that they found a way to capitalize numbers without thinking twice.
The only thing you’d wonder about was how they managed to make it out of there. All the same, we can’t help it that we have questions. What if aliens are real? Why would they come to earth at all? How would you really capitalize numbers?
Fresh Air
There truly is nothing like a fresh summer breeze. Except, obviously, when you happen to be inside a submarine. The person who commented must have been very oblivious to the clear joke in the photo. They felt the need to point out the obvious, as so many others did on this list.
Did this person even go to school? What we need to survive is oxygen, and guess what? Water contains oxygen! There! Problem solved. So, essentially, if you were to open a window in a submarine, you’d technically get air… Just not the kind humans can survive in.
Myth Busters
We’ve all heard about the Bermuda Triangle, right? There is a famous myth about how everything there simply disappears. Well, whether you believe it or not, you have to admit that the idea is intriguing.
We don’t have to wonder about it anymore! This person on YouTube confirmed that it is, in fact, a myth. They’ve even gone a step further by saying that Bermuda is entirely a myth. That is, not just the disappearance tales, but the entire location.
School Project
One of the best excuses for anything is needing it for a ‘school project’. Back in the day, going over to a friend’s house to work on a project was in actuality a code for hanging out and having a good time. Parents never seemed to catch on to that one.
This guy really wants an attractive face – for a school project. Obviously, the other Twitter user didn’t catch on to the joke. They went ahead and pointed out that this person wasn’t even in school anymore. Dude, it’s a joke.
Potato-Level Comprehension
Potatoes have a rather negative reputation online. Do you not look great in a selfie? Then you look like a potato. Is the video you’re watching bad quality? It was taken on a potato. Don’t understand something? You’re acting like a potato.
This YouTuber should have known better than to try a joke on someone who proclaimed themselves as a potato with pride. Gian attempted making a joke about the fact that they said “old gf” instead of “ex gf”. Naturally, they didn’t get the joke.
Discord Misunderstanding
This oblivious moment happened on a Discord chat. Essentially, it’s a chat room app where you can create multiple rooms to talk to your friends. You get to pick an icon on the app for yourself. Well, Token copy of Progenitus decided to make their icon the same color as the background.
Someone decided to joke around and compliment them on it. However, another member of the chat wasn’t able to keep up with the conversation happening. It’s okay, Dio. You’ll understand it someday.
Lighten Up
Let’s just cut to the chase and this one. We absolutely adore the irony of these two comments. The fact that someone took this joke so seriously and commented on it to tell the poster that they’ve taken a movie too seriously… It’s comedy gold if you ask us.
Seriously, though. How do you not understand that this post is nothing more than a joke? Did this person actually think of their friends in such a negative light that they wouldn’t put it past them to take a movie seriously? Ouch.
But Why
This thread began with a Reddit user making a true but rather dark observation. It was about how specific people would have somewhat of an advantage when it comes to combat and military scenarios.
After thinking about that, it only makes sense to consider having blind and deaf people in the army since they would have an advantage. At least, it makes sense to most people. This person clearly didn’t get it.
Are You Sure?
This tweet thread is an absolute classic. It’s such a mess from beginning to end that we can’t help but admire it. Firstly, we’re not sure if the person responding to the original tweet is kidding or not.
Maybe both of these people are joking? Maybe it’s actually us who are missing the jokes? All this speculation and uncertainty is giving us a headache… By the way, there are more fruits named after colors, such as blackberries, redcurrants, and oh right – oranges.
Wooshception
A lot of times, when someone misses the joke in a post, said post gets shared online just about everywhere. This leads to people looking at it and understanding where they went wrong the first time around. That might not be the case here, however. Someone posted a photo from Skyrim on Facebook with a hilarious caption. That’s when their poor friend completely missed the joke.
After that happened, a screenshot was shared on Reddit and then a Reddit user still managed to miss the joke, making it a double woosh. That’s what we’d call wooshception. For the record: yes the photo was of Skyrim. That’s the joke.
Knock Knock
It’s one thing to tell someone a joke that they don’t understand. However, it’s a whole other thing to make a joke at someone’s expense as they miss it entirely. It’s somewhat painful to read this exchange, honestly.
We’d like to think that the person who was texted was in on the joke the entire time. But, we’re starting to lose hope in this person’s ability to understand jokes – or people in general. Either way, we can’t help but feel for the person who willingly played along.
Welcome To The Joke
Who doesn’t appreciate a dark joke every now and again? At times, even the most morbid jokes are the funniest ones. And don’t try to excuse it – we all feel the same way at some point or another. It’s okay!
This one is obviously a joke. Who would post such a thing about their friend dying online if it were serious? However, someone still felt the need to chime in when they thought they figured out the mystery behind this imaginary death.
Tough To Figure Out
By this point, Fortnite has become synonymous with ‘young boys’, and for good reason. The video game has taken off over the past few years, and kids can’t seem to get enough of it. They’ve become obsessed with getting all the different skins and emotes you can purchase with real money.
It’s essentially the modern equivalent to Pokemon cards. Naturally, Visa noticed this and decided to make a joke about it on their Twitter. Seeing as it’s known that young kids would steal their parents’ credit cards for these things, it’s a pretty funny joke. Still, there was one person who felt the need to explain the joke… Sigh…
Layered
The best jokes are all a bit layered – like Russian dolls. They’ve got more to them than meets the eye. You get to slowly work through their different aspects, making them funnier as you go. This user made a great dad joke about Russian dolls.
Somehow, this post got even better when someone commented an additional joke on the original post. Somehow, this third person didn’t understand the additional joke. This whole thread feels almost like a Russian doll being built and then taken apart.
That’s The Point
There’s a weird thing that happens online at times. People try to make a point by attributing it to a child. It’s clearly untrue, not to mention, manipulative. Mostly, it’s weird. Normally, these quotes look like a parody of something else, with long and complicated words thrown in.
Of course, they don’t want you to think that a little kid said that, so they’re criticizing people who’ve really tried playing off complex quotes as things kids said. It’s needless to say that this joke went right over this person’s head.
Couldn’t Resist
Just like everyone else, we appreciate good spelling and grammar. It goes without saying since we’re writing. However, at times, the urge to correct somebody’s speech goes a little too far. Normally, it’s better to keep those kinds of things to yourself unless someone asks.
This entire joke was reliant on the supposed misspelling of the word self. Well, the other user felt the need to correct them in any case. Let this serve as a lesson for everyone who tends to correct others without any prompt.
Nice One
Africa by Toto has been an iconic and beloved song since…well, forever. It’s not uncommon to see references to this track in memes online. Whether it’s out of affection for the song or in some kind of ironic way, it doesn’t matter by this point. It’s one of the most popular songs online and for good reason.
Yet again, we have a commenter here who thinks they’re too smart to be tricked by what is very clearly a joke. Don’t take Toto so seriously. All you have to do is bless the rains down in Africa and then move on with your life.
You Don’t Say
We have to admit that this is a hilarious joke. Obviously, polar bears don’t live in the jungle – that’s common sense. If there was a polar bear in the jungle, it would most likely be so dumb. We get it now. The person who commented clearly wasn’t as lucky about understanding the joke.
We just have one question left: how didn’t they get the joke when they were on a thread solely focused on jokes? It makes no sense. Some people are just hopeless when it comes to these things. We just hoped this person went to a comedy club after this to do some studying.
Attempted Flirting
This is just sad if you ask us. So many people start a Tinder conversation with a joke, so we’re surprised this person didn’t get what was going on. Maybe they were new to the app? The opening line was clearly a compliment, but they missed that too.
This might just be the first time we’ve seen a pick-up line backfire so badly. In fact, it failed so spectacularly that the person who initiated it simply gave up on the prospect of a relationship altogether.
Missed Opportunity
Despite the fact that the French word for bread isn’t pronounced the same way the English word is, the spelling makes it impossible not to think of the word pain – in English. As in, pain – not bread.
The sad face in the bread is pretty self-explanatory. As great as the original post is, the person who missed the joke made us a little upset. How could you not get such a great and obvious joke? It’s right there in front of you.
Wait, What?
If you thought the last Tinder pick-up line went wrong, wait for this joke. It got worse. This person decided to try out a cute little joke to break the ice a little bit. It really blew up in their face, so to speak.
We don’t know why, but the other person went ahead and sent back an entire novel about why men shouldn’t tell jokes… The worst part about this entire exchange is that they didn’t even realize the joke was already said.
Double Miss
Trusting things you see online is a very dangerous game to play. As a matter of fact, about 99% of information and statistics posted online are made up by a random person sitting at home just trying to be funny.
The lies can range from a simple misquote like this original tweet to completely made-up information. That is clear to see from the oh-so-inspirational quote said by the one and only Abraham Lincoln. Yes, there was no internet during his presidency.
