The man was willing to admit that it was his fault and that he messed up. However, he was shocked when the neighbor decided to take advantage of his mistake. The man was unsure of what he should do, so he opened his computer and searched for the woman’s name. The man was surprised when he saw the photos that popped out. Thanks to these, the man was able to acquire the necessary evidence.
His Life Was Monotonous
Kristopher Hess worked for a local security company for 16 hours, and he would return home at 8 am to get some sleep. Kristopher’s life was described to be monotonous, as this was how almost every day was like for him. It was why Kristopher was ecstatic when his best friend contacted him to say that he would visit for a couple of days. It was unfortunate that things would soon go downhill.
A Break From Routine
Mark was his childhood best friend’s name who decided to visit him during the Independence Day weekend. Kristopher Hess was excited to catch up with Mark and requested for vacation leave at work. Kristopher wanted to make sure that his best friend would make the most out of his visit to the point that he spent his savings to ensure that they would enjoy the vacation.
How To Celebrate The Holiday
It was a hot day when things went south for Kristopher Hess, and the area Kristopher resided in had not seen rain for around two months. The two decided to sit on some deck chairs as they chatted and drank some beer. Mark suggested that they spiced things up during the holiday and grinned as he offered to set off “good ole American fireworks.” Kristopher was not as excited, but he caved in.
They Bought Fireworks
Kristopher Hess looked for his father, and when he was sure that he was not around, he spent all of his money on fireworks. He said, “To be fair, I have had nothing but bad experiences with fireworks, so I had no idea how this would be any different. We got home with the fireworks, and we laid them all out on the floor; Sparklers, Bottle Rockets, Cakes, and Roman Candles.”
It Was Fun While It Lasted
It seemed like Christmas as they checked out their fireworks collection. Kristopher asked, “Why don’t we mess around with some sparklers since it’s still not dark yet?” Mark was happy upon hearing Kristopher’s suggestion as he had the same plans. It was unfortunate that things would not go the way they wanted it to. We were curious as to what exactly happened when they set off the fireworks.
Nothing More Than A Huge Mistake
Kristopher Hess lit two sparklers, and the best friends waved the sticks to draw patterns. It reminded them of their childhood memories, and had no clue that things would go south. It would be the main source of Kristopher’s headaches and problems. Kristopher remembered, “One of the little sparkies from mine and my friends’ sparkler made contact with the ground and made two small fires…”
The Lawn Went Up In Flames
Kristopher and Mark did not foresee that things would go haywire and the backyard transformed into a raging inferno. It was because the lawn was so dry, and the flames soon reached the neighbor’s yard. Kristopher remembered, “I ran as fast as I could to grab the garden hose and quickly started spraying down the fire. It was no use; it was spreading faster than I could spray it.”
She Saw An Opportunity
Kristopher hurriedly contacted 911, and Mark did all he could to fan out the flames. It was unfortunate that there was little they could do to fix the situation. The neighbor also helped them to put out the fire. Kristopher felt both guilty and relieved because it appeared that Patricia understood the situation. However, that was way off the mark, and Kristopher could imagine Patricia’s sinister grin upon assessing the situation.
After A Long Day At Work
Kristopher’s break caused a lot of stress, but he had little choice but to return to his job. Kristopher still felt terrible about what happened, and he thought that he only wasted the time he took for leave. Once his shift from work was over, Kristopher hurried back home. A surprise waited for him the moment he reached his house.
Asking Him For Money
Patricia handed Kristopher a document file that included two quotes. The first one was for $4,000 for a new fence, and the next one was for $6,000 meant to replace the lawn. Kristopher Hess did not have that amount of money, so he showed the document to his father. Upon taking a quick scan of the Microsoft Word document, the father advised Kristopher, “Son, don’t you give that con artist a single dime.”
Taking Matters Into His Own Hand
Patricia also included a note at the bottom of the document. “I will also be having you pay my water bill for three months because the new yard will need lots of water.” Kristopher was surprised, so he posted, “Now the fence this woman had before was raggedy and falling apart. Her yard? Dead grass, weeds everywhere, never mowed it. Now looking at this paper, she wants a mahogany fence and a brand-new back yard with flowers and trimmed hedges? I said ‘I need to get an estimate myself, this doesn’t feel right…”
Using His Connections
It was fortunate that one of Kristopher’s friends was a contractor who told him that the lawn was already in bad shape before the accident. However, it would be difficult to prove that the fire did not cause the damage. It was why they decided to look for someone who would be willing to do everything for a reasonable price. They asked the contractor to check out the lawn and provide a price range.
She Threw A Fit
The contractor visited the next day, but Patricia stopped them from inspecting the lawn. Patricia yelled as she said, “I did not give you permission to get an estimate on my fence!” Kristopher responded, “The fence separates the property line, so it’s both of our fences.” Her anger was a clear sign that Patricia was panicking, so she called the police for help. The situation seemed to turn sour for Kristopher.
Giving Her The Estimates
“She calls the cops on me for having a contractor, and they ultimately can’t do a single thing because I’m on my property. He quickly finishes the estimate off at $1,200.” Kristopher was acquainted with someone who took care of lawns, and the guy offered to reseed the yard for $800. Kristopher posted on the ProRevenge subreddit, “After I get these estimates, I give copies to the woman, and she is having none of it.”
She Made Excuses
Kristopher sent the estimates to Patricia, and she responded, “I don’t know these people, I don’t want them near my house, they’re probably terrible contractors.” Kristopher wanted Patricia to understand, so he replied, “No, I know them personally. They are nice people and do great work.” It was unfortunate that Patricia was unwilling to listen and simply closed the door right on his face.
The Last Straw
“I ended up working a 16hr shift that night and got home at 8 am, and this woman came knocking on my door at 9 am and demanded I speak to her. I explained, ‘I would really love to do this, but I just got home, and I have to be back at work in less than 5 hours. I need to sleep.” Patricia’s response was, “What kind of lazy jerk sleeps in until 2 pm?”
Giving Her An Ultimatum
“At this point, I had about lost it and told her: ‘you can either accept my $2000 for my quotes or get nothing.’ She stood there for a while with her mouth open, but she accepted my offer and planned to meet down at the notary the next morning.” Kristopher Hess gave his neighbor an ultimatum and made the contract. Kristopher also prepared $2,000 when he returned from work, but Patricia had other plans.
She Stood Him Up
Kristopher got up the next day and waited at the notary office for more than three hours. The teenager could not wait for everything to be over, but his neighbor never showed up. Kristopher said, “I get a message from her saying ‘I’m sorry the $2000 isn’t enough, I’m having my guys start work on this project, and you will be paying me the full price.'”
Waiting For An Opportunity
Kristopher continued, “After that, I did not say a single word to her, and I watched for a few months as these guys turned her backyard into an oasis, complete with a small pond, brand new Sod, flowers, the whole 9 yards. Come to find out she had plans to remodel these things for a long time and was just waiting for the opportunity to go through with it.”
He Looked Her Up Online
Kristopher Hess honestly felt bad about messing up with the fireworks and wanted to make it up to her. However, it was apparent that his neighbor was taking advantage of him. The teenager did not know what to do, so he went on Facebook. He was surprised when he saw Patricia’s photos on a community page that they were both a member of. Kristopher discovered why his neighbor needed to acquire money.
The Photos In Question
“She used her remodel funds to go on a trip to Hawaii. Do you know how I found out about this? She was bragging about it on the neighborhood Facebook group and didn’t know I was in it.” Everybody could see the pictures from her trip, and Patricia had been consuming expensive cocktails in a luxury resort. Kristopher finally asked the Reddit community, “Are you ready for revenge?”
Taking It To Court
“Now, four months after the fire and all the remodels, I get served papers to go to court for $10,300. At 18 years old, I have to hire a lawyer to work my case. When we finally do get into court, I lay everything out: the quotes, being harassed multiple times, not showing up after agreeing to a deal, not wanting me to get my own quotes (required by law btw), and her bragging about conning me out of money… and, I have proof of all of this.”
What The Judge Told Her
Kristopher said, “The judge looked at her and said, ‘Ma’am with all due respect, you’re out of your dadgum mind. Not only did this young man tell the truth of what happened, but he also offered to pay you more than he was supposed to. “‘Your lawn was already dead before the fire occurred; therefore, he is only responsible for the fence of $1200. I will also deduct from this his lawyer fees.'”
He Got The Last Laugh
Kristopher continued, “She took a huge financial loss from this, not sure how much the Hawaii trip cost her, but she was in serious debt. She ended up having to sell the house because of it and moved into a smaller house. Haven’t heard anything from her since. To this day, I still do not use fireworks because we could’ve really hurt someone. What I have learned through this, though, is its best to take responsibility for your actions from the gate.”
Neighbors Are Not Always Pleasant
We have another story about rude people. We all knew that we had one or more terrible neighbors in our location. We knew that they were hard to please. We also recognized that it was hard to get along with these people, but a man decided to take action on these terrible people. See what he did to his terrible neighbors.
Going Too Far
The man got furious while he parked his vehicle. He might be a police officer, but he could never forget what he witnessed on that day. He was so mad at what his neighbor did to his property. He tried to remain calm, but he knew that trouble was brewing around him. The man was determined to end all the problems and said, “this is war.”
The Officer Of The Law
David Ellis was a police officer at the Los Angeles Police Department. He was serving the authority for 40 years. His main job was catching criminals that were participating in illegal drugs and fraud. The officer resided in a tiny private village and always followed the rules, and his hobby was taking care of his garden.
The Last Straw
The garden was his precious haven. Every weekend, he would trim the grass, water every plant, and fix every problem in his tiny yard. It was his way to relieve his stress after doing a hard job during weekdays. He was just happy looking at his beautiful oasis until some people wanted to destroy his property.
The Crux Of The Drama
Soon after living peacefully, some terrible neighbors wanted to break everything that David had started. These people might be related to each other, but they did not get along well. David did not want any trouble and wanted to mind their own life. However, all the problem he was facing was his property, and his neighbor was stirring up trouble.
“A Complete Nutjob”
Several potholes came out in their area. Not a single person did anything to repair it. However, David decided to take action before somebody would get hurt. The man took care of the potholes and fixed them. The people who were living in that place were not kind like David. Some of them had come up with other plans.
Passing The Responsibility
David’s neighbor wished to make the gravel into the asphalt. However, David declined the idea of his neighbor. His neighbor also did not want to pay for the changes. It was the explanation of why David and the people around him were arguing about the property. His daughter experienced the complaint in their daily life and stated that “Everybody here is a complete nutjob.”
A Gesture Of Goodwill
David was the only person who took care of the gravel. He did not have any reason to watch the gravel, but he still insisted on avoiding accidents and damage. The ungrateful neighbor just laughed at his effort. The daughter got mad when she saw his father was insulted. She asked her dad to end the problem that they were facing.
Enough Is Enough
Some individuals were difficult to reason out. The example of these people were his neighbors. They accused him of all the trouble they had been facing. Why was David facing a complaint when he was just taking care of his property? The people who were living in that location were always using the road where his house was located.
Protecting What Was His
David had gravel that was just a square meter on his property. He was taking care of the gravel to prevent mishap and harming his neighbor’s vehicle. The man was kind enough to talk to his neighbor about the problem. He also came up with a solution that he thought would make everyone happy.
Inspecting The Damage
David tried to offer his 3 square feet of land to his neighbor, but his neighbor did not listen to his idea and rejected his offer. He knew that his neighbor had another plan for his property. These rude neighbors also rode their vehicles closer to his property, which could harm their car and his property.
A Series Of Barrels
David tried to be calm and solve the problem peacefully. However, it did not long before he snapped. A delivery truck attempted to pass through David’s property to deliver wood to his neighbor and hit his fence. They thought that the neighbor would compensate for the damage, but no one wanted to pay for the repair. Miha said that “We had to replant these plants and place a new metal fence,”
“My father told me this was not the first time this happened, but the third. I couldn’t believe it when I heard this.” Once the police had finished mending the fence, David finally decided to take matters into his hand and protect his property. The neighbors had reached another level of disrespect and disregard towards him. After the event and carefully evaluating the damage, he went home saying, “This is war” David was trying to resolve the problem peacefully, but his neighbor did not appreciate it.
Thinking Up Other Ways
After he saw the cypress trees were harmed because of his neighbor’s car, David got angry and resolved the problem by placing huge barrels on the gravel side. The first time that his neighbors encountered the barrel was having trouble, but they knew it was just an average barrel after several days had passed.
Petty Revenge Turning Pro
The neighbor did not stop there. In just 6 hours, three of his neighbors furiously knocked on his door. They told David that their car was harmed when they bumped onto the barrels inside his property. Their cars were damaged because multiple rocks were placed inside the barrel. However, David had thought of another plan to stop his rude neighbors.
Cement And Poles
David was warned by his angry neighbor that they would call the authorities, and some of them told him they could bring their “pickaxe to the back.” However, he knew about the laws regarding his land. The property owner remained calm and told his neighbor that he had the right to put those barrels on his property. He knew that his neighbor would not give up.
The New Solution
In the beginning, he thought that the barrel would protect his land against his neighbor. A year later, the barrel was broken after it got hit by cars passing on his property. David knew that he needed to come up with a plan to educate his rude neighbors. He did something that his neighbor would not forget.
A Lesson Learned
The first neighbor who experienced what David did became furious. His car was damaged when he passed on David’s property. He did not notice the trap that was laid by the flowerbed. The angry neighbor knew that he needed to talk to his insurance company. On the other hand, David was content that his idea worked.
David could not hold his anger anymore. His daughter shared on Reddit that, “My dad was furious, he cut some wood to use it as a mold. He bought cement, sand, and metal poles. One peaceful afternoon, my father and I cemented that whole part of the land and placed some lovely flowers on top. So, when they hit the concrete, they can smell our flowers of victory/defeat.”
David decided to put and hide a small concrete at the flowerbed. It was the location where his neighbor would do a turn or cut within his land. After his neighbor’s car was damaged because of the concrete, David knew that his idea was practical. He also knew that no one could harm the place anymore.
Some of his rude neighbor’s cars were damaged when they tried to turn on that area. David did something to educate his neighbors and would keep them away from his property. After what he did, his neighbors stopped knocking on his door, but they had planned something else. A person contacted a lawyer to help him stop David.
After several cars were damaged because of what David did, he began to give concrete evidence to the insurance companies and neighbors that he did not do anything wrong. The man studied the law that could defend himself when a people accused him of using a cement wall. However, he was not punished even with all the damage because it was his property.
After David’s shared what happened on Reddit, a user said that “I’m very amused by the logic some people go by, for example, if I intentionally hit your property and it damages my vehicle, it’s still your fault (the owner of the property) for trying to protect your property and not letting me just destroy your property… and you should compensate me for the damage caused by my stupidity.”
An individual posted, “They ran over your trees? OHHH BOY, If they run over any more of your trees, look up your local laws about trees. People have been sued for TONS of money over the destruction of trees because they take so long to grow, so they have a lot of value.” Some of us might think that David did too much. However, most of us supported David’s decision.
