Dale thought Lise was aloof and distanced from him. She was actually secluded. She had few friends her own age and would frequently stay in her bedroom. He also noticed that she appeared to have delayed coming home from school in order to avoid him.

Dale was left wondering why Lise was acting in this manner. He was concerned because she didn’t get out with peers her own age and appeared to prefer spending time alone or apart from him. Why did she spend so much time alone? He also questioned why she didn’t think she could discuss it with him.
