Another thing was that at school Chumlee was having a difficult time trying to meet the educational standards, but there’s also the reality that at one point he was bullied and given a nickname. ‘Chumlee’ may not even sound too bad to some; quite the opposite, in reality. However, the main reason behind all of this, in fact, was very harsh and embarrassing.

This is how he tells the story behind his nickname. It happened to come from one of the characters from a cartoon show in the ’60s called Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales. A rather plump walrus named Chumley was featured in the show. The name just stuck, and then people just keep calling him that, which in the slightest is not at all flattering.
