The Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman made her mark in the entertainment industry when she starred in Casablanca opposite the actor Humphrey Bogart. However, you should know that she was already working on Swedish and German films ever since the ‘30s. She had such great international appeal that one biographer has called her “arguably the most international star in the history of entertainment.” Anatole Litvak, a director she has worked with in the past, said that “through all her troubles she held to the conviction that she had been true to herself and it made her quite a person.” Unfortunately, she succumbed to breast cancer in 1982.
