Ohio Art Company is a toymaking company best known for the Etch-A-Sketch. In 2003, the business made headlines after moving the company from Ohio to China. It used to operate in the Ohioan town of Bryan, which was got hit hard by this move. After all, the OAC Factory employed hundreds of people for more than forty years. Wall Street Journal said that the decision was made to “survive” against the likes of Lego, Hasbro, and Mattel. The company started out in 1908 by making metal lithography toys.

The company has retained its original headquarters in New York City. Engelhard Steinweg founded the company and conscripted the help of his sons to make pianos. Music legend John Lennon liked their products, and you can even see the Model Z Upright piano in the music video of “Imagine.”
