Unexpected Help
Each person had their own reason on where they would spend the money that came from the tip. Chris had a plan to use the money on his toddler’s monthly day-care bill and James would also like to spend his top for his family. Meanwhile, Laura, a 29-year-old who was living in Silver Spring, had a plan to use her $500 tip to pay for her summer class at Montgomery College. She was studying as an occupational therapist.

Chris expressed “it’s flattering,” he also said that, “It’s nice to see somebody appreciate what we do and they’re willing to leave something like that for us. It’s hard to believe anyone deserves a tip like that.” Even Laura who worked as a hostess, server, or bartender for 10 years said, “Never! Never have I gotten a tip this big. Never.” At the back of the bill, there was a note saying, “Thank you for the Gumbo!”
