Richard Harrison founded the store, so the show would not have happened without him! Born in 1941, he is the patriarch of the family. He hailed from a poor family and got involved with petty crime early on. However, things came to a boil when he got caught trying to steal a car. He then enlisted in the Navy to avoid spending any time in prison. For two decades, he served in the military and even reached the rank of Petty Officer, First Class. However, he had to look for a way to earn money after his time in the Navy.

Around that time, he was already married to Joanne Rhue, the woman of his dreams. While he was in the Navy, she had a real-estate business going on. They had three young boys that they had to provide for, so they were heartbroken when her business started going downhill. Richard had to find a way to support the family. This was when he started thinking of going to a bigger city with more opportunities.
