If you know your way around Paris, you might know that the Canal Saint-Martin has a robust nightlife. The area was quiet and clean; now it is filled with noise and rascals. Construction Of The Canal
The construction of the canal began in 1802, at Napoleon’s command. At the time, about 550,000 Parisians lived in the city. There did not appear to be any sign of the numbers dropping anytime soon. As for those days, Napoleon believed that the waterway would bring fresh water to the city and benefit the populace.
