All of a sudden, her speech took a strange and sudden turn. She looked at Emma and raised her hand to show off something on her finger. “We’re getting engaged!” Sarah told everyone as she flaunted the shiny diamond ring on her finger. The guests were respectful enough to give her a round of applause and offer her their congratulations, but everyone was clearly confused. Emma, however, was shocked by the way her friend was behaving. The bride was starting to see red – and on her wedding day, no less!

Emma did her best to act as if it did not bother her. Even so, she could not hide the disappointment that she felt. Did Sarah not respect her at all? Why would she want to one-up her on the biggest day of her life? When she looked at her friend, she saw that Sarah was enjoying the attention that she was craving. It was clear that she was pleased with herself. After seeing the smug look on her face, Emma snapped.
