The trucker and his mother lived in the Ronald McDonald House while they were in New York. The boy became aware of the FNDY firefighters while they were on their way back from an excursion. He got more and more excited. At that moment, he saw the fire department captain.

As Jim was seen returning to his fire engine at the scene of the call, the trucker and his mother had made plans to leave and go home. The two then approached the captain and struck up a chat with him, during which Trucker made clear his unique request.

The firefighters in Hawaii made the decision to band together and produce a spectacular mural as Trucker’s legacy. It wasn’t just because his father worked for the department as a firefighter. Everyone was aware of his devotion to the fire department.

The fire department also updated the official registry for their department to include Trucker’s name. In the fire department, this would guarantee that the young kid would live on in remembrance. They are fighting for less severe treatments because they don’t want other parents and kids to experience what they did during Trucker’s treatments.

A month after the trucker’s passing, the father of the deceased offered a tragic homage to his son on Instagram. It said: “My son, I love you so much! It was a month ago today that you left my arms and went home to be with the Lord. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t think about you and that I don’t miss you. I miss your contagious smile, your giggle, your spunk and zest for life and just how you loved so big. Thank you for being my son. Thank you for being so tough ( but snugly at the same time). Thank you for making my life so much more rich and fulfilling in your short 3 years here.”
