Culturally speaking, we have come to understand that Jesus looked very much like a white man with facial hair and was clothed in a white or cream robe. For individuals who believe in Jesus that was always basic information that they certainly knew about. However, others supposed he looked like a person from one of those historic paintings or an image of God’s intended existence. We consider this information to be correct. However, historiography and a professor at the King’s College by the name of Joan Taylor found evidence that Jesus did not actually look like the images that we all know and are familiar with.
Why Do Historical Painters Portray Him Like This?
The big question is why would today artists portray Jesus in a way that was not how he looked like during the time that he was alive? It appears as though various studies have been concluded which made artists paint pictures from the past several centuries of several Gods. So, when Jesus became a more well-known person during that era, artists created an image that represented something closely related to the idea of the Messiah. This is the effect of all the images we see today in many different places.
