In the In-Sync rescue center, Kahn felt safe. He grew so strong that he had to build a cinder-block staircase so that the center workers could easily enter his shelter. He now had even more room for creativity and relaxation. The feeling was in stark contrast to Kahn’s claustrophobic confinement.

Kahn was in desperate need of a playmate. Because lions are social animals who prefer to live in packs, the fact that Kahn and Sheila have been separated from other lions for so long is concerning. When Kahn and Sheila were placed next to each other, they instantly became friends. This friendship aided sheila’s healing. The fighting spirit of Kahn began to rub off on her.
