Mark and Mars
Young Mark’s main topic of conversation from an early age was Mars. He would not stop talking about his “past life on Mars,” and his parents had no idea how or when this fascination had begun. Initially, his mother Joyce had supported these “creative” ideas, but she had recently realized that perhaps it had become a bit much.
Not Very Social
Mark was having trouble making friends since his Mars talk scared everyone away. It was made more challenging by the fact that he had no way to communicate with them after school. That was partially Joyce’s responsibility because she felt like she hadn’t yet given Mark a computer. Perhaps playing video games with friends might divert her son from his fixation with Mars. The opposite, however, would occur.
