People have been going missing for a very long time now, it’s no secret. While the authorities always do everything within their power to find said people, they aren’t always successful, unfortunately. However, there are times when they don’t need to be – missing people simply reappear! From showing up at their homes mysteriously or simply walking up to someone in the street to report their own reappearance, there have been plenty of times where missing people turn up as if nothing ever happened. Let’s take a look at some intriguing stories, shall we?
Steven Kubacki
In February 1978, student Steven Kubacki had ventured out to ski near Lake Michigan. Well, he didn’t end up returning the following day, so a huge search was put in motion. The weirdest thing was discovered: a set of footprints in a location the student said he’d be heading. What’s more, they stopped right at the frozen water’s edge. There were no signs on the frozen surface to indicate that the ice had been broken at all, and there were no returning footsteps either. Later that day, Steven’s skis and backpack were discovered. No other sign of him came to light, and eventually, the searches were called off. Over a year later, in May 1979, Steven reappeared on his parents’ doorstep. He didn’t remember where he’d been. He woke up earlier that day in a field hundreds of miles away from where he disappeared and about 40 miles away from the family’s home. On top of that, he was wearing clothes that weren’t his and had a bag of maps with him that he didn’t recognize. Ever since his reappearance, Steven has refused to talk about his experience publicly.
Amber Smith
While 2-year-old Amber Smith had only disappeared for a day, her case is truly bizarre. According to her father, the girl had been playing at their home in Michigan on October 8, 2013. The father went into another room for just a moment, but when he returned, the girl was nowhere to be found. A full-scale search was launched almost immediately. Despite the fact that the entire area was thoroughly searched by hundreds of volunteers, it seemed that the girl vanished. The next day, as searches continued, Amber was found several miles away from her home, safe and sound. The weirdest part? She was found in a location that’s already been searched the day before.
