Soon after that, Tommy and his family returned home, and once there, Tommy was unable to stop talking about what had occurred. All of his unpleasant recollections disappeared, and all that remained in his mind were the good experiences he had while he was interacting with the orca. Even remembering his fall into the enclosure as a fortunate event was important to him.

Since then, Tommy has developed a deeper appreciation for marine life, and he and his family have been making increasingly frequent trips to the aquarium. Later on in life, Tommy pursued a degree in marine biology and worked his way up to become a professional biologist, specializing primarily in marine organisms. He was working at the same aquarium part time when he became increasingly concerned about a pressing issue.
