In the middle of 1987, Battles thought that everything was not right anymore and asked his wife to get a divorce. Reba was crushed by what happened because even though they did not end up being on good terms, he really loved Charlie. She was actually sleeping the moment it happened, so she woke up the next day to a piece of terrifying news. It was not an easy year for Reba McEntire. She had a very hard time coping up with her sudden loss. Such a tragedy put the whole country music industry into a mourning state.
