Upon her discharge from the Marine Corps, she made the decision to explore other interests and enrolled in a science program at Elmhurst College. Yet, this was not the only thing that she chose to pursue after making her decision. She was getting close to the conclusion of her service in the military when an opportunity presented itself, and she made the decision to pursue it.

Modeling Debut
Shannon paid a visit to her friends in Chicago shortly before she departed the Marine Corps. Shannon was invited to participate in a fashion show that was being hosted by one of her friends, and she was requested to walk the catwalk. This brought her into contact with photographers from all over the world as well as those in the fashion industry.
