Even though he did not get a lot of screen time in the film, it is still a very important role. After all, Johnny Rico would not have existed if it were not for him!

She also released an autobiography called, The Longest Trek: My Tour of the Galaxy which was released in 1998. Sadly, Whitney passed away at the age of 85 in 2015.

Nana Visitor is an American actress, best known for playing Kira Nerys in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine from 1993 to 1999. The 64-year-old mother of two also ventured out into other projects once her role on Star Trek ended. Some of her roles were on Ted 2, Family Guy, CSI, and Fraiser. Lieutenant Uhura – Nichelle Nichols

Where do we even start when it comes to the legendary Lieutenant Uhura? How about with the fact that Nichelle Nichols’s role of Lieutenant Uhura was groundbreaking across the whole of America.  She was the first African American female character that appeared on American television and was not portrayed as a  servant. At one point Nichols considered leaving the show, however, she changed her mind after she was personally asked by the civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. to stay. Once the series ended, she starred in many films and TV shows and even released two music albums. Another amazing thing she did was being a  part of a special NASA project that helped recruit minority and female personnel.  Today 88-year-old Nichelle looks absolutely fabulous!

Lt. Tasha Yar – Denise Crosby

In the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Denise Crosby played the role of Security Chief Tasha Yar. But, in the following seasons, she portrayed Yar’s own daughter, a half-Romulan Commander Sela. Once Star Trek wrapped up, Crosby appeared in a  string of both film and TV shows. These include Suits, NCIS, Prison Break, and The Exterminator. Crosby is mom to one son.

Naomi Wildman – Scarlett Pomers

Prior to starring in Star Trek, Scarlett Pomers starred in Michael Jackson’s music video “Heal the World”, she was just three years old at the time. Many say that dancing with the King of Pop helped her boost her acting career. For her role as Naomi Wildman, Pomers earned the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Drama Series: Supporting Young Actress. Since then the 32-year-old has also starred in Reba, Judging Amy, and A Ring of Endless Light.

Robin Lefler – Ashley Judd

Another gorgeous lady that appeared in Star Trek is the award-winning actress, Ashley Judd. She played Robin Lefler who was a female Human 24th-century Starfleet officer and engineer. After that chapter in her life came to an end, Judd starred in several films that have been well received as well as films that have been box office successes including; A Time to Kill, High Crimes, De-Lovely, Olympus Has Fallen, and A Dog’s Way Home. In 2011, the 53-year-old also released her memoir All That is Bitter and Sweet, in which she talks about her trials and tribulations from adolescence to adulthood.

Long before Kim Cattrall was sipping Cosmos in Sex and the City, she was getting mentored by Captain Spock. In fact, did you know that Vulcan Valeris was the first Vulcan to graduate at the top of her class? Furthermore, Cattrall also helped design her character’s headband, suggested her hairstyle, and helped name the character. The 64-year-old actress is the recipient of five Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations, winning the 2002 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. Her most recent role was in Filthy Rich in 2020.

Next up we have Yeoman Martha Landon who joined the USS Enterprise by order of Captain James T. Kirk, and the operations division security officer did not disappoint. The stunning Celeste Yarnall began her career way before Star Trek was even thought of. She continued to have a very successful 56-year long career. Sadly, Yarnall passed away in 2018 at the age of 74.

Lwaxana Troi – Majel Barrett

In case you didn’t know, Majel Barrett had two roles in the Star Trek franchise – first, as Nurse Christine Chapel in the original Star Trek series. However, her more iconic role was as Lwaxana Troi, the overbearing mother on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. But that’s not all, she was the second wife of Gene Roddenberry, the Star Trek creator, and is referred to as “the First Lady of Star Trek”. Sadly, at the age of 76 years old she passed away. More than 250 people attended her funeral.

During the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan, Kirstie Alley portrayed Lt. Saavik the Vulcan/Romulan hybrid. Following the film, Alley co-starred in the long-running series Cheers, as well as many others TV shows such as Dancing With The Stars, Veronica’s Closet, and The Hot In Cleveland. The stunning actress was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contribution to motion pictures in 1995. The 70-year-old is also a mother of two children, William and Lillie.

Seven of Nine – Jeri Ryan

When Kes left Star Trek: Voyager, Seven of Nine replaced her who was played by the beautiful Jeri Ryan. Following the much-loved series, Ryan then went on to star in many other TV roles. Some of which included, NCIS, Law & Order, and MacGyver. In her personal life, Ryan married Christophe Émé in 2007. Together they have one daughter named, Giséle Lynn Émé who is now 13 years old.

For the films Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Robin Curtis replaced Kirstie Alley’s role as Lt. Saavik. She continued to act within the industry, but only for a few years before she decided to retire in 1999. In 2004, Curtis became a residential real estate agent in New York. Then, in the following year the 65-year-old former actress debuted her one-woman show, a work-in-progress, Not My Bra, You Don’t! – The Sexual Odyssey of a Forty-Nine Year Old Woman.

In Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home Catherine Hicks played Dr. Gillian Taylor which is what earned her a Saturn Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. However, many people may also recognize her as Annie Camden from the long-running TV series 7th Heaven. But that’s not all, Hicks starred in a huge variety of other films and TV shows. And still today, the 69-year-old actress is working within the industry.

T’Pol – Jolene Blalock

46-year-old Ameican actress and model Jolene Blalock is best known for her role as T’Pol, the Vulcan first officer, on Star Trek: Enterprise. Following the conclusion of Stark Trek, Blalock appeared on other television shows such as Legend Of The Seeker, House, and CSI: Miami. Blalock is married to Michael Rapino who is the CEO of Live Nation. The couple has three sons together.

Following her stint on Star Trek, Oliver appeared in other popular series like M*A*S*H, Gunsmoke, Days of Our Lives and Peyton Place. Her role in Days of Our Lives even secured her a nomination for an award! At the same time, Oliver developed a real interest in aviation and subsequently trained to achieve her pilot’s license. However, she had nearly died twice on a plane as a passenger in the past and had to undergo hypnosis to conquer her fear of flying. Ironic right? She sadly passed away in 1990 aged 58.

Andrea – Sherry Jackson

Sherry Jackson comes from a family of natural-born entertainers. Her mother, Kathleen Gilbert, supported Jackson’s love of acting, dancing and singing. As a consequence, following the death of her father, she moved with her mother to L.A., the place where she landed her first film role at the young age of seven years old. Jackson even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In the past, she has starred in My Three Sons, Batman and The Wild Wild West.

Elaan of Troyius – France Nuyen

Aside from Star Trek, Nuyen also appeared in series such as Gunsmoke, Magnum P.I. and Charlie’s Angels. Nuyen was born to a Romani mother and a Vietnamese father and has previously modeled and worked as a seamstress. She was first discovered by a magazine photographer, which eventually led to her big break. Nuyen began her acting career in 1958 and has married twice in her life and has also studied a psychology degree, becoming a psychological counsellor. In 1989 she won the award for Woman of the Year for her work helping abused women and children.

Nona – Nancy Kovack

Kovack is not only stunning, but she is also extremely clever. Kovack actually graduated from college at the young age of 19 and once worked as a radio DJ. She has been the winner of eight beauty pageants in the past and was eventually discovered at a wedding. This discovery led her to several TV gigs, which led to her big break. She was even nominated for an Emmy in 1969. Kovack enjoys retirement with her husband Zubin Mehta, with whom she has two children.

Jewell’s role on Star Trek was quite limited, but this didn’t stop her from having an interesting career. Post-Trek, she went on to appear in The Flying Nun and had even been a cosmetic/fashion model in Europe and New York prior to her acting career. She only became an actress after the opportunity was brought in front of her when she moved to California. Having decided that acting wasn’t her passion, she went into business. She died at the age of 76 in 2014.

Counselor Deanna Troi – Marina Sirtis

Not too many of these Star Trek actresses remained in the industry for too long, but Sirtis was an exception. After the conclusion of the show, she reprised the role in four separate films. Sirtis had even moved to L.A. from London at 31 in order to appear in the show. Prior to Star Trek she had appeared in a few British films, many of which were controversial.

Kelinda – Barbara Bouchet

Prior to acting, Barbara Bouchet was a model. Bouchet had also appeared in TV commercials in the past and has even featured on the covers of many magazines. Eventually, she decided to move to Italy to pursue many different projects. Whilst in Italy, she opened a production company and a fitness studio; even meeting her love and marrying an Italian producer in 1974. The couple had two sons together but eventually divorced in 2006.

At the age of eight, Mariette Hartley began her acting career. Prior to taking on the role of Zarabeth, she had already appeared in The Twilight Zone and Bonanza. Hartley has remained active in Hollywood and has even taken on roles in M*A*S*H and Little House on the Prairie. Hartley won an Emmy for her role in The Incredible Hulk in 1979 and founded the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention following the death of her father.

Thrett left New York City for Hollywood in attempt to pursue a career in acting. After her stint on Star Trek, she appeared in Cover Me Babe and Three in the Attic. Eventually, she decided to leave the entertainment industry and bought her way out of a deal with American International Pictures. Since, she hasn’t looked back and lives happily with her husband and three children.

Craig was formerly a ballerina, eventually moving from Ohio to L.A. to pursue dance. In a turn of events, she found herself in the acting industry! She is probably best known for her portrayal of Batgirl in ’60s ABC show, Batman. The New York Times and The Huffington Post gave positive reviews of her performance. After some time in the industry, she left Hollywood in order to work as a real estate broker. She sadly died of cancer at the age of 78.

Before appearing in Star Trek, the actress brought home the Miss America crown in 1955. She went on to earn two Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy nomination for Barnaby Jones. She also played Catwoman in the 1966 movie. More recently, she appeared in All My Children, Desperate Housewives, The League, and Hawaii Five-O. She has two daughters, Lesley Aletter and Kyle Aletter-Oldham, who also work as actresses.

Tanya Lemani started her career as a classic ballet dancer. She was born to Russian Parents in Iran and speaks three languages fluently: Russian, Persian and English. Lemani also knows some Ukrainian, Italian, Armenian, and Spanish too. After moving to the States, Lemani looked for work in Las Vegas, initially working as a belly dancer. After her big break, she went on to star in over 20 films.

Besch made her on-screen debut in The Secret Storm. Rumor has it that she wasn’t the greatest fan of her role in Star Trek, saying how she “tried to make it as Human as possible rather than trying to fit into something that already was because this character hadn’t existed before, and I didn’t really feel that I had to do that [….] It’s difficult to play a woman who has had a relationship with someone that everybody knows. So I tried to make it believable for myself. I fantasized about an early affair [between Kirk and Carol Marcus] and why it turned out the way it did. What kind of people we both became, how I got to be where I was, not just as a scientist but as a woman who wouldn’t have told Kirk for all those years that he had a son.”
