Slow Fashion
Julia is an outspoken advocate for slow fashion. So, what exactly is ‘fast fashion?’ ‘Fast fashion is literally cheap, stylish fabric and low-cost clothing, but it does not last long. As an example, consider the retailer Forever 21. “We want a lot of inexpensive clothes,” Julia said, “so merchants have to manufacture in foreign factories where US labor laws don’t protect workers.” Slow fashion, on the other hand, promotes high quality and fair labor standards.

Workers’ Rights
With huge amounts of clothes being produced overseas to meet the growing demand for lower-cost goods, several companies unethically use underage employees in their factories. Worse, no laws are in place to safeguard these children. Julia contributes to the demand for lower labor by buying fewer clothes items. While Julia’s choice is the primary cause, it is not the only one.
