She attempted to stay on track, despite her embarrassment, by fanning herself with a book. But all she could think of was the July heat, which had steadily crept over the 90-degree threshold. The hours flew by, and it seemed as if the day would never finish. Although the kids were eager to meet the new art teachers, Julia thought she wasn’t making a good impression that day.

She’d been to long series of introductions, and the classes seemed to go on forever! Every 13-year-old that came through the doors to meet her was a fresh opportunity to make an impact, and she felt like she was losing it. Finally, the day was done, and she returned to her car, relieved. She was embarrassed to feel her dress clinging to her back like a wet cheesecloth. As she carefully washed it in the sink and hung it to dry, she reminded herself that tomorrow would be a new day.
