Health Problems As A Teen
Nicole started to notice tiny bumps on her skin when she was 16 years old. At first, they were just small spots which later multiplied to spread across her whole body. She paid a visit to her doctor when she started getting fever and fatigue as well. The doctor found out Nicole’s were jaundiced. They took blood samples and discovered that her platelet level was alarmingly low. A normal platelet count would fall somewhere between 140,000 to 150,000, but Nicole only had 8,000.

A Dangerous Autoimmune Disease
Nicole was diagnosed with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura or TTP after the doctor’s appointment. TTP is an autoimmune disease that could be fatal. She was only 16 years old when she received the diagnosis, and it must have scared her to hear about her it. Her disease led blood clots to form all over her body. After the diagnosis, she had to spend some time in the hospital for recovery. It was a good thing Nicole decided to go to the doctor in time. Things could have turned out completely different if she didn’t.
