Some outspoken Americans have earned the whole population a bad reputation internationally. The negative perceptions can have wide repercussions, even affecting the foreign policy of a country. Unfortunately, there are a number of nations out there that have a generally dim view of U.S. tourists. We have compiled a list of countries where American tourists may not feel that welcome. However, there is always a chance that this claim is untrue, though it doesn’t hurt to put some effort into respecting foreign culture, laws, and policies unless you want to live up to the bad reputation.

Danish people do not really appreciate America’s “we’re the best” attitude. The Danes are known for being simple and very polite who often trade thank-yous and you’re-welcomes. In Denmark, it is a widespread view that Americans think they are superior to everyone else. This makes Americans unpopular.

Russia

The frosty relationship between Russia and the US started with the Cold War and hasn’t really thawed. America has recently opposed Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine and this has made the U.S. more unpopular among Russians. As a matter fact, 71% of Russians view America unfavorably, and the hit American show Chernobyl likely has not helped improve relations! The trials of the past do linger.
