In the Netherlands, as many as 59% of the people attribute negative qualities to Americans. To be specific, they think Americans are overweight, dumb, paranoid, and racist and have extremist views. Nevertheless, to a certain degree, the country still has some hope as not all Americans conform to the stereotype.

The widely held view in Ireland is that Americans are arrogant. This view is more marked among merchants that sometimes do business with tourists from the U.S. The Irish business people are particularly unimpressed by American tourists who turn up thinking U.S. dollars can be used in Ireland. This behavior is seen unsympathetically for the simple reason that the European country has its own currency!
