The Skylight Inn – Ayden, North Carolina

Pete Jones, a teenage kid from Ayden, founded a barbeque business on his family’s land in 1947. The Skylight Inn was the first to offer the beautiful brisket trays that everyone loves to the locals and the rest of the world. A simple but lovely combination of finely diced and gently seasoned beef with a single slice of cornbread makes for the ideal brunch or dinner. The BBQ establishment maintains the early American barbeque heritage and customs.

Monty’s BBQ – Minet, North Dakota

North Dakota is the most sparsely populated state in the United States, thus finding a good BBQ place is difficult. However, when Daniel Montgomery, a native of Texas, opened Monty’s BBQ, the locals were introduced to a whole new world of taste and flavor. He established the BBQ joint in Minot’s former camping area, promising the greatest sausages, briskets, and burned ends in town.
