Maytag

In 1893, Frederick Maytag opened Maytag as a washing machine company. It makes $4.7 billion in revenue per year and employs 2,500 people. Whirlpool owns the company, which has subsidiaries such as Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, and Admiral. Domestic production took off in the ‘50s when the laundry and kitchen appliance industry boomed. The company then entered the commercial field and faced off against stiff competition. It ended up staying because it kept introducing new products to the lineup. The headquarters is located in Benton Harbor, Michigan. This is a truly American company!
