No mom wants to imagine that their kid would have to go to the NICU. Even so, Angie tried to keep her morale up. She felt in control of the situation after the tour and the birth plan. “You hear a lot of stories, you know, of triplets who don’t make it or especially of identical twins. The body absorbs one of them,” she said. “I didn’t see [the NICU] as a sad place, I saw it as a place that was empowering for me.”

The medical team monitored the babies every day. While conducting an ultrasound, they saw that baby ‘B’ was smaller than the two others. This was not that strange since she and baby ‘C’ used a single placenta. Even so, they had to keep an eye on this. The pregnancy was almost halfway done by then.
