They Changed Child Labor Laws
To accommodate filming, the British film industry changed child labor laws. The production was reduced to four hours of shooting a day and a minimum of three extra hours devoted to schoolwork with a cast of ten and eleven-year-olds. Child labour rules were modified in the United Kingdom to introduce a couple of extra working hours to the week and to allow on-set lessons more versatile.
