The Picture Is In The Stone
The concept that Jesus was a bearded Caucasian was accepted during the time of the middle ages. However, the image of the Messiah portrayed as a good shepherd only became prevalent in more recent times. He appeared as a man to be wearing cream or white clothes, with long hair, and a beard. This is the image that is often seen in today’s day and age.
Connecting Images
Many historical artists have not been able to find any explanatory report in the Bible. Despite this being a guide as to what the Messiah actually looks like, it later became a reason as to why the artist wanted to create their own personal image of Jesus. What seems to have happened is that artists joined the images from previous artists to create an identical portrait of him.
