Brenda Heist reached a breaking point in her life when she disappeared. While going through a divorce in 2002, the Pennsylvanian disappeared without a trace, leaving her two kids behind. After a widespread search and investigation, she was declared legally dead in 2010. That is, until one day in 2013, she wandered into a Florida police station and claimed she was Brenda Heist who disappeared 11 years earlier. She claimed that after dropping her kids off at school that day in 2002, she went to a park where she sat and cried. Three strangers approached her and asked if she wanted to join them on their way to Florida. In her words, she “just snapped” and took off and left with them, leaving her old life behind.
