Tactical Change
Walter hurriedly removed his prison uniform before he ran deeper into the forest. He could hear the wailing of the sirens get farther and farther away. He did not stop running and moving while his adrenaline rush had still kicked in. He knew this was his best bet.
The Death Of Walter Miller
Walter told everyone what happened next. He said, “I could hear the alarm blaring behind me, but I didn’t look back.” When he felt safer and that the coast was clear, he regained his composure and asked the people he passed by for directions to the Greyhound station. They would just tell him to “Keep going.” He was somehow able to get into the station and boarded a bus to New York City after he borrowed enough money from a stranger.
