The interior seemed to be in good condition, but he wanted to rebuild the upper entryway before working on the interior. On top of this, he wanted to replace the stairs to make sure that it was perfectly accessible.

There was no way he would give up such a great opportunity! After finding the bomb shelter, he made up his mind to use it as a HAM shack, man cave, and the Civil Defense Museum. He read about Tucson during the Cold War. For him, there was no better use for it than as a memorial. He began to look for memorabilia like Geiger counter, water supply barrels, HAM radios, and sanitation kits from that era.
